National HVACR Technician Certification Program

Cleveland, Ohio, April 20, 1998 - Energy Management Specialists, Inc. became the first HVAC Service Contractor in the nation to be certified as an Air Conditioning Contractors of America - ACE (Air Conditioning Excellence) Contractor.

To become an ACE certified contractor, the corporation must have 75% of service technicians ACE certified.  With only 16.6% of technicians nationwide successfully passing the exam to become ACE certified clearly indicates the need to accelerate training in the HVACR service industry.

In 1994, Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) in cooperation with Ferris State University (FSU) set out to establish a nationally recognized technician certification program that would raise the competency of the HVACR Service Industry and provide a better service to clients.  To that end, it became important to place the main focus for learning on lifetime experiences rather than straight industry text understanding.

After four years in the making, with input from all sectors of the HVACR industry including contractors, technicians, and educators, ACCA has established an extensive, high quality question databank for it's accomplished ACE Certification Exam.
